Making a nest box

Lots of swallows nest in the sheds of our little farm - their favourite hobby is to make me wash my car. More swallows and robins nest in the barn. Great tits and blue tits dig holes in our rotting soffits and nest in the eaves of the house. As an experiment I’ve made a nest box to see if I can attract any of the birds away from these destructive locations!

Making a handle for a tired old kitchen knife

My father-in-law left a knife in our yard. It’s a rough old kitchen knife with a blade of cheap steel. The handle is long gone and I couldn’t believe he had been using it because it was bloody dangerous in that state. I decided to make a new handle for it and I might even return it to him ready for use again!

Axminster No.1 Dowelling Jig - Box

Something I dislike about the Axminster jig is that it nearly fits back into its box after being assembled. If it did fit I could leave it in the box on a shelf or in a drawer, and pull it out whenever I need it but instead I need to make a little box for it.

OSB shoe rack

We need a shoe rack and they’re surprisingly expensive, even when mass produced from sources like IKEA. Since I had a load of 12mm OSB off cuts left from my pallet wood kitty condo project, it seemed like a good time put something together.
